The True Benjamin Franklin Illustrated eBook Syndney George Fisher Reviews
Arrived when scheduled - item just as described. Very pleased.
I am really enjoying this book. The author takes the well known historical events of the time and presents them from a different than the usual angle. He supports his theories by referencing letters, documents, and newspapers of the period. The book caused me to look at the events around Benjamin Franklin's life differently.
Very interesting account of Franklin's life and career particularly since it was written in the late 1800s and revised in the very early 1900s. I'm surprised that no one has made a movie of his life....children out of wedlock; political intrigue with the British and the French not to mention his early Americans; scientific discoveries and inventions; not to mention his wit and cleverness. Where are leaders like this today?
...read about the Founders through their own words! I came to realize that what I was reading in history books, was the point of view of the author. In order to get a clear picture of what the Founders were really thinking, you must do your own homework. Read different points of view with an open mind and find authors who provide context for the quotes that doesn't skip straight to modern opinion. This book fits that effort.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I'm glad I choose this person to study.
His life is explained very well in many phases and perspectives. I'm about
half way through the book. I'm excited about what will happen when it
gets to the point of American History when the Constitution was written.
Benjamin Franklin lived a long life (84 years). In many cases, great men of his
stature are shot and killed before living out their full life. I'm happy to see
he lived to a old ripe age and died of natural causes. He was an awesome
public servant and I'm glad we have these written works about him.
Got to love Ben - a truly activated guy. Very strong sense that he was truly capable in anything he undertook.
This book is full of dates and names and events...all sufficiently examined and explained, but never overdone. It is an excellent introduction to an important American.
The only objection, perhaps, is that it was written a hundred years ago, and I wonder if there are new facts or perspectives.
